The Hendrick I. Lott House is a rare survivor of Brooklyn’s rural past. The historic house has been home to the eight generations of Lotts, from 1719 to 1989, as scores of women and men, immigrant and native-born, enslaved and free, in one of the earliest established Dutch settlements in New York City. Today, the Lott House stands as a testament to Brooklyn’s diverse history.
Why Donate?
In early 2026, the Lott House will undergo a long-awaited Interior Renovation and Restoration Project, receiving necessary stabilization and structural and electrical updates that will allow us to open the house to the public as a museum! The goal is for the Lott House to be a place where Brooklynites (and all New Yorkers!) can connect with our shared past. There’s never been a more pivotal time to support the Lott House! Learn more about the interior restoration and renovation here.
Today, your generous donation will directly contribute to the expansion of our in-person programming and educational offerings. Your support will enable us to include more hands-on activities, historical lectures, and special events that engage our community.
